MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 16, 2025 — Beginning at approximately 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, northbound National Street at Tutwiler Avenue will be closed for about six weeks to allow for roadway improvements. Motorists who typically travel northbound on National Street between Bowen Avenue and Faxon Avenue are advised to use alternate routes. The closure will also restrict access to Tutwiler Avenue between National Street and North Highland Street. Delays are expected.
Southbound traffic on National Street will not be affected. Signed detour routes will use Faxon Avenue, Highland Street, Bowen Avenue and National Street (southbound). Local traffic will have access to northbound National Street and Tutwiler Avenue up to the closure. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained during construction.
The closure is part of the Heights Line Project. Traffic control will be managed by Zellner Construction.
