MEMPHIS, Tenn., August 11, 2025 –The City of Memphis is committed to providing safe, welcoming, and well-maintained spaces for our seniors. A recent facility inspection at the Frayser-Raleigh Senior Center identified several building systems that require attention, including HVAC performance and the fire suppression system.

The center will temporarily close to allow crews to complete essential repairs and upgrades, ensuring all facility needs are addressed thoroughly and without delay.

Continuity of Services for Seniors:
  • All regularly scheduled programming will be temporarily relocated to the Raleigh Community Center.
  • Meal services will continue and will be available at the McWherter and Lewis Senior Centers.
  • City staff will support ongoing programs and ensure minimal disruption to services during the temporary closure.

A reopening timeline will be shared once the full scope of work is confirmed.

“Our seniors deserve high-quality spaces that meet their needs and expectations,” said Parks Director Justice Bolden. “While this closure is temporary, our ongoing dedication to providing excellent service remains unchanged.”

The City thanks the community for its understanding and support as work progresses. The improvements made during this time will help ensure a more reliable and comfortable environment for all who use the Frayser-Raleigh Senior Center.
