Memphis, TN – On Tuesday, May 14, the Memphis Police Department, in collaboration with the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, executed a nuisance closure of Infiniti Sports Bar & Grill, also known as Club Infiniti, located at 2536 N Watkins Street. This action follows a long-standing pattern of violent incidents, illegal activity, and ongoing threats to public safety.
Between May 2023 and May 2025, MPD responded to 93 calls for service at this location, including reports of shots fired, armed individuals, and disturbances. Four homicides occurred at the property in the first five months of 2025 alone, including the city’s first homicide of the year. Additionally, officers responded to 264 calls for service within a one-tenth mile radius of the business over the past year, 14 of which involved violent crimes.
“Club Infiniti has been the site of multiple serious incidents that have put lives at risk and disrupted the peace of this neighborhood. And today, we are taking decisive action to shut it down,” said Mayor Paul Young.
As part of the investigation into the nuisance closure, it was discovered that the club manager, John Curry, 57, was storing and selling liquor without a license. Curry has been charged with Driving While License Suspended/Cancelled/Revoked, Possession of Unstamped Liquor Over 3 Gallons, Unlawful Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage, Storage of Liquor For Sale, and Dispensing Alcoholic Beverages Without a License.
Memphis Police Chief ‘CJ’ Davis stated, “This is not a one-and-done. There are other properties on our radar, and more actions are coming. Every business owner in this city has a choice: be part of the solution or be held accountable.”
“This is what collaboration looks like,” said Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy. “Working with our law enforcement partners, we can and will take swift action against nuisance properties that breed crime and drag down our neighborhoods.”
State Representative Antonio Parkinson added, “When we shut down nuisance businesses, it removes the gathering places for criminal activities and sends a strong message to other irresponsible property and business owners: this will no longer be tolerated in our city.”
MPD will continue to investigate the recent fatal shooting at Club Infiniti on May 6, 2025, and has released images of a suspect. CrimeStoppers is offering a $4,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with tips is urged to come forward.
We will continue to work toward a stronger, safer Memphis.
