MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jan. 24, 2026 — The City of Memphis Solid Waste Division has suspended garbage and recycling collection services on Saturday, January 24, 2026, because of hazardous conditions caused by the recent winter storm. This decision was made to protect crews and public safety.
Because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday earlier this week, some Friday customers were scheduled for collection on Saturday. Unfortunately, snow, sleet, and ice accumulation created unsafe conditions for operating collection vehicles.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to restore services as soon as conditions allow. The Solid Waste Division will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates when service can safely resume.
What Customers Should Do:
· Place carts out on your regular collection day.
· Leave carts curbside until they are serviced.
For the latest updates and notifications about service changes, download the City of Memphis Curbside Collection app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
