MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 8, 2026 — Beginning Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the eastbound lanes of James Road between Hollywood Street/Range Line Road and Scenic Highway (approximately 350 feet east of the bridge) will be closed to through traffic for an emergency bridge repair.

The closure is expected to remain in effect for approximately four months. Motorists should expect delays, follow posted detour routes, and allow extra travel time.

Motorists who normally use eastbound James Road between Hollywood St/Range Line Road and Scenic Highway are encouraged to use an alternate route during the duration of the closure. Delays are to be expected.

The signed detour route will use Hollywood Road, the eastbound I-40 East ramp, the Warford Street exit ramp (Exit 6), and Warford Street.

Local traffic will have access on James Road up to the closure. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained for local traffic during construction.

This is a City of Memphis bridge repair project. For additional information, please contact Charles Vanloon with Chris-Hill Construction at 901-351-1356. All traffic control is the responsibility of Superior Traffic Control.
