VICE CHAIRMAN CARLISLE HOSTS HONORARY STREET NAME SIGN UNVEILING FOR BILL GIBBONS
MEMPHIS, TN. (May 12, 2026) — Memphis City Council Vice Chairman Carlisle will be hosting an unveiling of an honorary street name sign recognizing Bill Gibbons for his longstanding contributions to public safety in Memphis.
The unveiling ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, on South Bellevue Boulevard between Eastmoreland Avenue and Peabody Avenue in Memphis; in front of Central High School.
In 2025, the Memphis City Council passed a resolution honorarily renaming a portion of South Bellevue Boulevard in recognition of Gibbons’ decades of service to the community. Gibbons currently serves as Executive Director of the Public Safety Institute at the University of Memphis as well as President of the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission.
