MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jan. 27, 2026 — Although the winter storm has ended, snow, sleet, and ice have left hazardous road conditions across the city. For the safety of our crews and residents, the City of Memphis Solid Waste Division will suspend all garbage and recycling collection services on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Collections scheduled for Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27, were also suspended, and crews have not completed those routes. Safety remains our top priority, and current conditions make it unsafe for collection vehicles to operate.
The Solid Waste Division is closely monitoring conditions and will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so. Residents should place carts out on their regular collection day and leave them curbside until service is completed.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore services safely and efficiently.
