MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Feb 2, 2026 : The City of Memphis Solid Waste Division will continue to delay residential garbage and recycling collection through Tuesday, February 3, 2026, due to lingering ice in the public right-of-way following recent winter weather.
While many roadways may appear clear, ice remains in medians, along curbs, in alleys, and other areas where collection crews must stop, exit vehicles, and service carts. These conditions, particularly in shaded and low-traffic areas, continue to create safety concerns for Solid Waste employees and residents.
Solid Waste Division leadership is working closely with the Public Works Division to monitor conditions citywide and determine when it is safe for crews to return to normal operations.
Conditions are improving, and the City expects to resume regular collection service on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, if conditions continue to improve.
Residents should place carts at the curb on their regular collection day and leave them there until service is completed.
The City appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as crews work to safely restore services.
