MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Feb 1, 2025 : The City of Memphis Solid Waste Division will suspend residential garbage and recycling collection services through Monday, February 2, 2026, due to hazardous road conditions following recent winter weather.
While the storm has passed, snow, ice, and below-freezing temperatures continue to impact street and alleys across the city, especially in shaded residential areas and locations with limited traffic. Safety remains the City’s top priority.
Solid Waste Division leadership is working with the Public Works Division to monitor conditions and determine when it is safe to resume service. The City is also coordinating with its third-party collection contractor, which services approximately 20 percent of City customers.
Conditions are reviewed daily. Residential collection services will resume as soon as it is safe to do so, and additional updates will be shared once details are confirmed.
Residents should place carts out on their regular collection day and leave them curbside until service is completed.
The City appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as crews work to safely restore services.
For updates and notifications about service changes, residents can download the City of Memphis Curbside Collection app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
