MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jan. 29, 2026 —Although the winter storm has ended, snow, sleet, and ice have created hazardous road conditions across Memphis. For the safety of our crews and residents, the City of Memphis Solid Waste Division will suspend all garbage and recycling collection services on Friday, January 30, 2026.

In addition to Friday’s suspension, residential collections scheduled for Monday, January 26, through Thursday, January 29, were also suspended.
Safety remains our top priority. Current conditions make it unsafe for personnel and collection vehicles to operate.

The Solid Waste Division is closely monitoring conditions and will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so. Residents should place carts out on their regular collection day and leave them curbside until service is completed.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore services safely and efficiently.
