MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 27, 2026 — The City of Memphis is experiencing an unusually high volume of calls to the Treasury Division regarding 2026 property tax bills and the Property Tax Relief/Property Tax Freeze programs, resulting in longer-than-normal wait times. We understand the frustration this has caused and apologize for the inconvenience.
The City has dedicated additional staff to answer calls and extended Treasury’s phone hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to better serve taxpayers and reduce wait times.
In past years, Treasury mailed two separate documents to participants in the Property Tax Relief and Property Tax Freeze programs. This year, that information has been combined into a single document. As a result, many callers are concerned that part of their tax bill is missing.
The information needed to make a payment and recertify for the program is included on the voucher. While the format differs from previous years, the voucher includes all of the information necessary for taxpayers to pay their property taxes and complete their recertification.
We appreciate the public’s patience as we respond to the increased demand and work to assist every taxpayer as quickly as possible.
