Chris Winton

Chris Winton serves as Chief Operating Officer for the City of Memphis, leading the City’s day-to-day operations and working across departments to improve organizational performance, strengthen collaboration, and enhance the delivery of services to Memphis residents.

Winton brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience with some of the world’s largest organizations, including FedEx, Tesla, and Comcast. Throughout his career, he has led large-scale operational transformation, technology modernization, workforce strategy, and organizational change.

Before joining the City of Memphis, Winton served as Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer for Comcast, where he led strategy and operations for a division of approximately 13,000 employees. Previously, he served as Chief People Officer at Tesla and as Chief People Officer for FedEx Corporate, helping lead global workforce strategy and enterprise initiatives supporting more than 510,000 employees across more than 220 countries and territories. His experience also includes leading one of the largest HR technology transformations in corporate history, developing enterprise workforce planning strategies, and directing major cross-functional initiatives spanning operations, technology, finance, communications, and human resources.

Winton earned a Master of Business Administration from Dowling College and a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of Memphis. He serves on the boards of Methodist Healthcare and the University of Memphis Foundation.
