How to Apply

Applying is easy! Just follow these steps:

  • Visit memphistn.gov/careers and browse available positions.
  • Click on a job title to carefully review the full job description and requirements.
  • Scroll down and click the “Apply Now” button.
  • Enter a valid email address and click “Next” to begin your application.
  • Fill out all required fields and click “Submit” at the bottom of the form.

You may upload up to two attachments, such as:

  • Resume
  • Cover letter
  • DD214/NGB Form 22 (Veterans Preference)
  • Transcripts
  • Certifications or licenses

What Happens After You Apply

Once your application is submitted, we’ll review it to see how your qualifications align with the job requirements/minimum qualifications. To give yourself the best chance, make sure your application is:

  • Accurate and up to date
  • Detailed with relevant knowledge, skills, education, and experience (including duties)
  • Complete including any required attachments

If you meet the minimum qualifications, you may move forward in the selection process, which could include:

  • Practical Tests – Simulate real job tasks
  • Written/Online Tests – Measure job-related knowledge
  • Assessment Centers – Simulate job scenarios (mainly for professional/executive roles)
  • Interview Panels – A group of interviewers ask job-related questions

Final Steps Before Hiring

If you receive and accept a conditional job offer, you may be required (depending on the job) to complete:

  • Criminal background check
  • Public Safety Offers - fingerprint check and extensive background check
  • Drug test

Received

Means application submitted

Under Consideration

Means moved for Manager Review

Referred

Means Qualified Candidate, Move to Next Steps

Interviewing

Decision Pending

Means you are in the consideration phase

Offer

Means processing/pending hire
