Peabody Cooling Towers – Second St and Gayos Road Closures
Beginning on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2 a.m. and lasting until about 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, South Second Street between Union Avenue and Peabody Place, as well as Gayoso Avenue between South Second Street and November 6th Street will be totally closed to through traffic to allow the contractor to set up a crane that will be used for replacing cooling towers on the rooftop of a building located on the east side of South Second Street (Peabody Hotel).
Motorists who normally use Second Street between Union Avenue and Peabody Place, as well as Gayoso Avenue between Second Street and November 6th Street, are advised to use an alternate route during the duration of the closure. Delays are to be expected.
The signed detour routes will make use of Union Avenue, Fourth Street, and Peabody Place.
