30th Southern Heritage Classic kicks off

For the 30th consecutive year, Jackson State University will face Tennessee State University in the Southern Heritage Classic this Saturday, September 14, at 6 p.m. at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. 

Here are some things to keep in mind to keep your SHC experience enjoyable:

Parking

Southern Heritage Classic Parking

General parking is $10 on Friday and $20 on Saturday. Please enter through Access 7 off Central Avenue or Access 11 off of Southern Avenue. You are encouraged to arrive early as parking is limited. Please note, tailgating is not allowed in general parking.

Clear Bag Policy

Clear Bag Policy

To help with safety, the Liberty Bowl’s policy requiring guests use clear bags will be in place. Guests will be able to carry the following style and size bag, package or container into the venue: 

• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12."
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
• Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the venue with one of the clear plastic bags.
• An exception will be made for medically necessary items after inspection.

Prohibited Items

Baby strollers, chair backs larger than a single seat (a maximum of 18" wide, 12" deep with arms), umbrellas,  cameras with lens greater than 12” and audio or audio/visual recording devices, laptop computers, briefcases, backpacks, computer bags, camera/video recorder bags, air horns or any other artificial noise makers other than those approved by the playing teams or their respective conferences, fireworks or other explosives, laser products, coolers, outside food or beverages, glass, plastic, aluminum & liquid containers, projectiles of any type, weapons, and any other item deemed unacceptable by Stadium Management.

Traffic

Guests are encouraged to make use of shuttles and ride share services. Please give yourself extra time and “pack your patience.” Expect an increased police presence, along with Fire and EMS on-site as well as the perimeter of the stadium. Pedestrian crossing will be available at Hollywood Street and Milton Avenue and Hollywood Street and Midland Avenue.
