Do you live in Memphis or Shelby County?

If so, the community needs your help! The City of Memphis and Shelby County are conducting a study to better understand residents’ housing decisions and their experiences living, working or going to school in the region. Your answers to the Regional Fair Housing Survey will inform a regional assessment of fair housing and access to opportunity, called an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice or “Regional AI.” Topics include the factors that were most important to you when you chose to buy or rent your current home and your experience trying to find a place to rent or buy in your community, including your experience with housing discrimination.

“This survey is a major component of a broader undertaking to thoroughly assess the region through a Fair Housing and civil rights lens. The study team will analyze data from a variety of sources about our community, but we believe our residents have a story to tell. We want to hear your housing story. Participating in the survey is a great way for people who live in the community to identify public and private sector factors that may create barriers to housing choice and access to opportunity for all our residents” said Paul Young, Director of Housing and Community Development.

The Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice is required by HUD and the city and county have chosen to collaborate and intend to develop both local and regional goals to address fair housing issues raised by the research.

A lucky respondent will win a drawing for a $100 Visa gift card.
