Eads and Riverbottoms deannexation begins January 1
Posted on 12/31/2019
The areas of Eads and Riverbottoms will officially be deannexed from the city of Memphis on January 1.

Eads runs south of Highway 64 and north of Grays Creek in Eastern Shelby County, while Riverbottoms sits in the southwest corner of Memphis and the county.

City of Memphis services to those areas, including solid waste pickup, will cease at midnight. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will take over patrol duties in both areas starting at that time. Fire services will also be handled by Shelby County. Residents should call 901-379-7625 for non-emergencies; 911 for life-threatening emergencies.

These deannexations will affect less than 800 people.
