Memphis City Announces Road Closure in Response to Illegal Dumping

Memphis, Tenn. September 4, 2024. The city of Memphis is taking action to address the issue of excessive illegal dumping with the announcement of a road closure on E Levi Road. The closure will be located at E Levi Rd, just east of the east-most Will Caruthers parking lot entrance and north of E Levi Rd on Sedgwick and is scheduled to last for 90 days.

The decision to implement the road closure comes as a response to the recent surge in illegal dumping activities in the area. The closure is intended to deter further dumping and allow the city to address the existing problem effectively.

During the 90-day closure period, the city will closely monitor the area using surveillance cameras to ensure compliance with the road closure and to prevent any unauthorized access.

A map of the closure and detour route is attached. The city of Memphis urges residents and businesses to cooperate with the road closure and to report any suspicious activities related to illegal dumping to the local authorities.

The closure date will be effective Friday, September 6.
