The closure will be located at E Levi Rd, just east of the east-most Will Caruthers parking lot entrance and north of E Levi Rd on Sedgwick and is scheduled to last for 90 days.

The City of Memphis Department of Housing and Community Development, along with United Housing, Inc., THDA, Bank3, and My Cup of Tea, is breaking ground on a new affordable housing initiative in Orange Mound. The ceremony will take place at 824 Semmes, on Tuesday, August 13, at noon. This project will see the construction of single-family, accessible homes on a previously vacant lot. The project is partly funded also by the Tennessee American Rescue Plan.

Beginning on Friday, August 2, 2024, at about 8:00 p.m., Westbound lanes will be closed on Sam Cooper Boulevard between I-40 and the Mendenhall Road overpass to allow City contractors to repair beams on the bridge. The repairs will last approximately 14 days. Two westbound lanes on Sam Cooper are expected to be closed during the first week of the bridge repair project. One westbound lane will remain closed for the second week of the project.
