Memphis Neighborhoods to Showcase their Work, Culture, and Pride at the Tenth Annual “A Taste of Memphis” Festival
Dozens of organizations working to improve neighborhoods across the city will showcase their efforts at “A Taste of Memphis.” This year’s theme is “One Memphis with Endless Possibilities.” Returning for its tenth year, this free community-focused event celebrates the distinctive culture, history, and accomplishments of Memphis’ neighborhoods.
A Taste of Memphis is organized by the City of Memphis’ Division of Housing & Community Development (HCD), Office of Neighborhood Engagement, will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Tiger Lane, 450 Early Maxwell Blvd. “Annually, this event brings Memphians from all walks of life together to celebrate what makes Memphis so unique—our people,” said Memphis Mayor Paul Young, who will address the more than 100 confirmed organizations and participants.
Festival highlights will include performances by local artists at the Shell on Wheels, interactive booths, family-friendly activities, a Kid’s Zone, a free screening of Kung Fu Panda 4 (6:00 p.m.), popcorn, balloon animals, and lawn games.
“This event is a continued extension of our division’s efforts to celebrate and strengthen neighborhood vitality throughout the City of Memphis,” said Ashley Cash, HCD Director.” Attendees will also learn about neighborhood associations, shop with local vendors, and celebrate Memphis greatness,” added Joyce Cox, Senior Manager of the Office of Neighborhood Engagement.
