The Division of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is hosting its 4th annual State of Memphis Housing Summit on Wednesday, November 2nd at the Memphis Botanic Garden from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This conference is designed to provide a platform for the Memphis community and beyond to discuss housing and neighborhood issues with local and national thought leaders. 

The summit will have a roundtable discussion featuring housing and community development directors including HCD’s Director Ashley Cash, and her counterparts Director Dr. Meghan V. Thomas of Birmingham, Alabama, and Helen McIlvaine, JD, of Alexandria, Virginia. This panel discussion is designed to foster an open dialogue addressing key housing challenges faced by these cities.  

The closing keynotes, Ralph Perrey, Executive Director of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA), and Lisa Rice, President, and CEO of the National Fair Housing Alliance will discuss fair housing strategies to promote and ensure housing equity. Throughout the day, various experts will address key topics regarding renters’ rights, affordable housing development, state pre-emptions, the Memphis housing policy plan, and unconventional barriers to housing.
