Dear Citizens
Welcome! This website is a joint venture between the City of Memphis and Shelby County Government's,
designed to help citizens better understand what the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 (ARRA)
or commonly known as the "stimulus fund", means to the citizens of Memphis and Shelby County.
In recent months, there has been much discussion as well as questions about ARRA. This website is designed
to keep you informed on just how ARRA dollars will affect Memphis and Shelby County.
The ARRA dollars are intended to provide a stimulus to the U. S. economy in the wake of the economic downturn.
All states are expected to receive a share of these funds for education, energy, infrastructure, healthcare,
human services, unemployment and public safety. To better facilitate our benefiting from these funds, we have
appointed a committee to organize coordinated efforts and to investigate potential projects for our area.
We encourage you to sign up to be notified for updates and hope that this site is informational and useful.
We appreciate your continued support in our efforts to ensure that Memphis and Shelby County are the best places to live,
work and visit.
Sincerely,
Myron Lowery, Mayor Pro Tem
Mayor A.C. Wharton
