Hon. George H. Brown, Jr. was elected in August 2006 as a member of the Charter Commission for the City of Memphis and is a professional mediator for Resolute Systems, Inc. He is a retired Circuit Court Judge (1983-2005) for the 30th Judicial District at Memphis. He received his J.D. from Howard University of Law and was conciliator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (1969-71) and executive director for the Memphis Area Legal Services (1971-73).
Judge Brown received the Sam Myar Award from the Memphis Bar Association in 1979 for "Outstanding Service to the Legal Profession and to the Community". In 1995 he received the ?Chancellor Charles A. Rond Outstanding Jurist Award? presented by the Young Lawyers Division of the Memphis Bar Association. In October of 2000, Judge Brown received the ?Hero of Pro Bono Representation Award? given by the Memphis Bar Association and the Memphis and Shelby County Bar Foundation.
